Ernie Watts nyerte az idei Frankfurt Music Prize-ot

Egy svájci menedzser, nevezzük Peter-nek (kinek közreműködésével nemrég az Opus Jazz Club-ban lépett fel a Joey Calderazzo Trio) küldte ma reggel a következő szenzációs hírt!

FRANKFURT MUSIC PRIZE 2014  WINNER ERNIE WATTS, one of the world’s most versatile and creative saxophonists. In his  more than 50-year career, he is featured on over 500 recordings with artists covering the spectrum from Cannonball Adderly to Frank Zappa and, in all cases, has left his mark in the form of his incomparable sound.
Ernie Watts has been selected for the Frankfurt Music Prize for his strikingly melodic saxophone style and his original tone language, with which he has already enriched several generations of musicians. In all works, the well-established musical personality of Ernie Watts can be heard clearly thanks to his individual instrumental style. This was one of the main reasons he was chosen as a ‘most valuable player’, which has now led to him being nominated for the Frankfurt Music Prize for his extraordinary services to music.

“I create music that tells its own story. For me, it has always been important that musicians communicate effortlessly with each other and produce an individual language of sound, a language that speaks to the heart of the listener—for music is the language of the heart. It touches the common bond among all people.  I very much appreciate this acknowledgment of my work.  The Frankfurt Music Prize is a great honour for me,” says Ernie Watts.
